In Initiation and Transformation: Eastern European Slavic Rituals and Traditions for Life Transitions, students will explore ancient rituals rooted in Eastern European Slavic traditions, designed to mark significant life transitions. Led by Vlasta, this workshop delves into the symbolic acts and initiatory practices that have been passed down through generations, including rituals surrounding birth, adulthood, marriage, and death.

Participants will gain insight into the spiritual and cultural significance of these customs, learning how to incorporate them into their own modern practices. Through a combination of storytelling, hands-on activities, and guided reflection, students will experience the transformative power of ritual.


What you can expect from this class:

  • A Zagovor (an incantation) for water, representing the initiation into a new phase of life 💧
  • A candle ritual where you will place a zagovor on the flame to mark the transition and release the past🕯️
  • Recipes for traditional Slavic concoctions for cleansing and protecting the home, particularly for the New Year ✨
  • Simple elemental magic—working with fire, water, and air—to create a sacred space for personal transformation. 🫶

    By the end of the workshop, participants will have the tools and knowledge to perform their own rituals for life transitions, leaving with a renewed sense of purpose and connection to Eastern European Slavic traditions.


In preparation for the workshop, please gather the following items:

  • Pen and paper or a journal
  • Bowl of Water
  • Beesewax candle
  • Lighter or matches
  • Snacks and drinks for nourishment!

Seagrape does not offer guidance around computer or Zoom usage, though we do send out a link including instructions on how to use Zoom two days prior to all workshops.

All tickets are nonrefundable.

If Seagrape Apothecary reschedules a workshop or class and an attendee cannot attend the rescheduled workshop or class, a class credit for the ticket value will be issued and will be valid for 1 year from the date of cancellation.

If Seagrape Apothecary cancels a workshop or class, attendees will get the choice between class credit or a Seagrape Apothecary gift card. If class credit is chosen, a credit for the ticket value will be issued and will be valid for 1 year from the date of cancellation. If the gift card is chosen, a digital gift card worth the ticket value will be shared via email and valid for 1 year from the date of cancellation.

If an attendee is a no-show to a class, no credit will be given.

COVID Exceptions: If an attendee tests positive for COVID and reaches out prior to an in-person class to let us know, a class credit for the ticket value will be issued and will be valid for 1 year.
