With the spark of a new year, we are in the time of year when the days are getting longer (2 minutes more of daylight a day!) and the growing daylight encourages us to move and awaken our energy. Gems, plants, & herbs can be helpful talismans or tools to support our energetic and physical bodies in this time. They may help us in moving stagnant energy, or perhaps keep a spark of energy alive, or even help to encourage a new type of energy to enter our lives.
Movement:
To encourage movement of energy, Lava can be a helpful gem. Lava reminds us to connect to the grounding energy of the earth while also being open to going with the flow. Lava creates stability out of change and holds the multitude of the elements that made it, allowing us to channel flexibility and complexity as we make energetic shifts. If you have any gemstones or rocks that remind you of motion or a favorite body of water they will also make great talismans of movement. Herbs that encourage the movement of energy are warming herbs that will get your physical body moving - things like
ginger,
clove, and
cinnamon are all good fiery plant allies to invite in right now. Try incorporating these herbs into your morning ritual by having a spiced breakfast - pancakes, oatmeal, or granola all take these spices well!
Tending the Flame:
To tend a spark and keep it alive,
Lapis Lazuli is a beautiful blue stone that helps you discern and speak your truth, and connects you to your inner desires. Blue stones are often connected to the throat chakra, and support communication & speaking from your heart. Self massage can also be a good tool to use to tend a spark - it’s a practice that encourages us to slow down, care for our physical body, and nurture ourselves. Try
self-massage by candlelight so really slow your mind and body, and be able to listen to yourself that much deeper. Our
Sweet Musk massage oil has the warming essential oil of clove, which is an herb that is aligned with the element of fire to support your spark.
New Energy:
To encourage new energy or a change in your life,
Tiger’s Eye is a stone that can help feel centered even through chaos. This stone can also help us feel strong in our boundaries - when encouraging new energy or change it can help to listen to our bodies and heart’s nos & yes.
Here is a sweet and warming recipe and an easy way to invite a Magical practice into the kitchen! Feel free to whisper your intentions and add gem and flower essences to the mix to spell this breakfast dish.
