01-22-2022 - Guiding Light: Reclaiming Agency in the Face of Helplessness & Grief
"You have to act as if it were possible to radically change the world.
And you have to do it all the time."
How do we get in right relationship with responsibility in the face of all the change that is so urgently needed in our world? Between the bold possibilities for liberation that our imagination dares us to hope for, and our limited bandwidth for engaging in even the most basic, everyday tasks, there is lots of room for anguish and despair to set in.
Our current relationship with helplessness, grief, and hope is rooted in early experiences of trauma. If left unexamined, these lifelong patterns can lead to overwhelm and paralysis, and prevent us from being the powerful agents of change, both individually and collectively.
In this 1.5 hour workshop, we’ll:
- Explore how creating safe space for grief allows us to reclaim agency and hope.
- Learn how to redefine our relationship with responsibility in a way that both honors our current capacity, and orients us towards our bold dreams of liberation for the planet.
- Practice resourcing skills to support this reclamation process.
The workshop will include lecture, reflection, a tarot ritual, group sharing, and time for integration & questions.
In preparation for the workshop, please gather the following items:
- Pen & paper or journal.
- Items to create a simple sacred space, such as candles, herbs or incense to burn, etc.
- Your favorite tarot deck.
- A cherished or ritual object, such as a crystal, talisman, stuffed animal, etc.
- Snacks & drinks for nourishment.
This is a live workshop, with a recording available for 2 weeks sent out to all registered participants.
